View Full Version : Just saw a biker get pulled over...
just past the zoo exit on 26W, I think it was a red bandit or something. Maybe a speeding ticket, but I didn't think it was excessive speed. As if we didn't have enough to worry about with idiot cagers...
Every weekday between 11-1pm, there is a patroller that hits HWY 26 West Bound from Portland to Sylvan. Usually a motorcycle cop...
I used to come home for lunch and saw him everyday almost...
I saw him:
-Right after the Zoo Exit, waiting at the end of the onramp (in bushes)
-Saw right after the big bend before the Sylvan Exit.
-Also heading Eastbound into Portland, sitting on the Onramp from the Zoo Exit (catch you as you go by)

Hope it wasn't Breezio, he's on a red bandit.
Speaking from experience, I don't recommend making motorcycle cops (or cager cops) earn a ticket [15]. I did that once in college...they're not very nice if they catch you.

I believe that CYD unintentionally made the cop who gave him his ticket work for it...

Yeah...He was pushing 95MPH to catch up...bouncing of HIS rev-limiter. (It wasn't a persuit vehicle, it was the big SUV truck thing.

Sure...if you're at OMP this Friday I'll tell you all about it. I was lucky once, but one of my friends wasn't so lucky.

Yeah I would like to hear that also. But anyways I was coming to work this morning and went through a green light @ 85MPH I was going North and saw a cage cop getting ready to go south from the light. Well he thought he should go after me and did. So he came up on me with the lights on and I was pulling over and he turned his lights off and passed me shaking his finger at me to slow down. Yeah I will never do that again. I was lucky.

Just a heads up to ya'll. 26 at the Zoo exit is a LIDAR playground so if you are going to up the speed on 26 you best slow down at the exit. [13] [13] [13]

Ok... I admit that this is probably a stupid question, but:
What is difference between laser and radar?

Laser (LIDAR) uses light energy and has a very narrow beam (3' for every 1000'). Therefore, it's selective and has a scope with reticle so the operator can pick out exactly what vehicle to shoot.
Radar has a very wide field of view and displays the fastest/strongest target in that field.
They are both very accurate, and have their advantages and disadvantages. Laser is good for longer distances and situations where the operator needs to pick out a particular target. Laser, being an emitted light, is affected by rain and fog. It'll work in rain and fog, but the effective distance is greatly reduced. Radar is good for limited sight distance situations, good when there is less traffic and when there is fog/rain.

Yes, but how often have you actually seen police "taking pictures" in the rain? Almost never. I imagine they don't like standing in the rain talking to people more than anyone else. It's almost like rain is a license to speed.[3]

You'll see plenty of motorcycle cops with laser in the rain. Not a torrential downpour, but the typical light rain/drizzle that we get here. The motorcycle cops have the option of not riding if it gets below 40 degrees and its raining, so they are out there for the long haul. No thanks.........
I guess I must be lucky.[7] I can't remember the last time I saw any police trying to catch speeders in the rain. I used to commute from Portland to Olympia, WA for a couple of months for job reasons, and I never once saw any speed traps in the rain. I did see plenty on dry days.
Heh, I made good time on rainy days.[29]
