205mph on a RC51 could this be so

A Minnesota State Patrolman hovered in the sky along Highway 61 when he saw something faster than a speeding bullet- and it wasn't a bird, a plane or a superhero.

It was 20-year old Samuel Tilley on a Honda RC-51 and he was going too fast for Al Loney, the patrolman, to keep up, in a plane.

"It was faster than any other vehicle I had ever seen speeding, no question, " Loney said.

In the Cessna 182 that Loney was flying, he used sight, two stopwatches and painted hash marks along the highway to measure the speed.

On the road, there are one-mile stretches here and there with rectangles painted every quarter mile. That allows "eyes in the sky" like Loney to clock speeders, using the marks on the road and stopwatches, from high above the roadway.

In this case Tilley was clocked over the entire distance of one quarter mile in 4.39 sec's. That is an avrg speed of 205 MPH.

Some qustion the accuracy of a stopwatch but Loney says in ten years his watch times have never been wrong. "I belive that the speed is very true and accurate, even more than a radar."

Motorcycle enthusiasts have also questioned if that Honda RC-51 can even go more than 200 mph, but the patrolman says if the bike is heavily modified, it can do the speeds without a question

Tilley was ticketed along with his racing partner for speeding. Neither had a motorcycle endorsement on their licenses. Neither of them were arrested and a Wabasha County Judge will decide the fine.

Total BS at that. The "Eye in the sky" needs glasses and/or a new stopwatch! The guy admitted he was doing 130-140 at most.

I'm not positive, but I believe in this state (I live in MN which is where "The Ticket" was issued) the fine is the same whether you're going 100 or 205 MPH. if that's the case and I'm him, I just pay the fine and move on. Don't fight over the speed. What good will it do to get it knocked down to 130 MPH? At least you'd get bragging rights....

well I saw it and just felt that some one didn't know, like my self. And if this was the worlds best machine(gisxr) he would have never got caught.

well like some of u might know my real machine was stolen 4 weeks after I moved to jax. And no one has touched this kaw I got now. lol Oh and your race me, if your talk-n dragraceing I'm in but track racing I'm out. All my bikes I've ever had have been set up for drag-n. That gives me my rushhh.

well it's 40percent bike and 60 rider what slot do u fall in. If it's on the bike side then shame on u. I can and have took a gisxr 600 and beat the Sugar Honey Ice Tea outta 1000 in the 8th so it's realy not the bike but on the other hand the 1G is just bout the best on the market or shall I say was now it's the zx10 but the 1G's will be bac. Hell I took my TL1000R and wiped a Cbr 900 in 8th and in the quarter so I'm jus rep-n what I love thats all. SUZUKI
