2002 ZX6r Out of hibernation

So I have a 2002 ZX6R and It's been a while but I'm getting her out of retirement. I think it's been about 3 or 4 years since I've used the thing. I've been trying to get it back up and running, but need some help on what to do next.

At first, it wouldn't start, just needed a new battery and I can get it to start.
There was just a little bit more than a reserve tank of gas in at the beginning. I filled it up with ultra 94.
Oil and fluids look pretty clean.

It starts up fine with the choke on. But once I take the choke off, it dies. Also, when I try to give it any gas at all, it just dies.
So it idles just fines, sounds good, maybe a little weak, just under 1K rpm's.

When I play with the idle screw (I'm guessing that's what it's called, it's below and to the left of the gas tank in between the fairing.) it only runs if it's very low. If I try to increase it it dies.

It doesn't make sense to me that it would idle, but when I hit the gas it dies?
Any help or suggestions are much appreciated.

Thanks.

LOL, BREAK OUT YOUR WALLET. you didn't properly store the bike.
take it to a mechanic and ask him to put a new battery in it and change all the fluids and most importantly clean and sink your carbs.

LOL, could have saved yourself alot of money if #1 you had stored the bike properly,
#2 not messed with all the settings on the carbs and taken it to a mechanic to start with

You have issues with your gas. Id start with taking the tank off and completly draining it. Pull the carbs if you can, and they are going to need to be cleaned. And change all fluids.
Bare minimum drain the tank, put about 1gal of gas in and add the appropriate ammount of seafoam in it to try and clean it.

your slow jet is gummed up. get a carb clean. a SYNCH would be a good idea to. drain tank completely and check for rust or junk in the tank. if it is rusted there is this stuff called kreme-it or something like that that will restore your tank.

Thanks for the suggestions guys, I went through a few of them and now I have the bike almost running back to normal again. Here's what I did so far.

-drained the tank
-added seafoam and 4 litres (about a gallon) of gas to the tank
-added a very small amount (about 2 teaspoon's worth) of seafoam to the carbs, didn't have a friend at the time to hit the gas, so I just put a little bit in
-drained the fuel from the carbureator (Not sure exactly, a friend did it)
-changed the oil

So now it is running way better than before. I can hit the gas and it is responsive.

But now I need the choke on in order for the bike to idle. Once I take off the choke and hit the gas it'll keep going but if I let go the bike dies. Even if I have the idle switch set to 4K it still dies.

I was even able to ride the bike around the block and it felt pretty good, but once I stopped at the stop sign, the bike just died. I had to keep revving it in order for it to keep going.

I think I'm almost there, anyone have any ideas on the next step?

Thanks again

you need to pull the float bowls off your carbs one at a time and clean out the jets. it sounds like your idle jets are plugged up. thats why it dosn't idle unless the enrichener(a.k.a. choke) is open.
