Pocketbike Racing
Where is the best place to get gear? Any tips on the best stuff to get? Advice on things we wouldn't know from the rules and regulations. Anything you can think of that we should know? I don't know if she'll be ready by the first race but we'll see what happens. :agree Thanks, Nicki

PM FramerPDX as little Ty raced all last season. You could also PM Kimberlie (I think it's her son Cody that races) for information.
Good luck - it'll be cool to see another little sb.ws'r out there :biggrin

Dayum. My 5 yearold won't let me get rid of her training wheels on her bicycle yet.
Looks like someone has a Rossi-in-the-making. |

Thanks Liv. I'll pm both of them! We're excited to see what she does with it. :)
This is one determined kid. We told her she had to be 4 and ride a bike without training wheels for 1 year before she could get one. About 3 weeks after her third birthday she made me take them off and has been going since. Then on her fourth birthday she looks at me and Othello and says "mom, I'm four and I can ride without training wheels. Can I have a pocketbike?". My other favorite line from her was after listening to daddy talk about riding and so she was on her bike and looks at me and goes "hey mom, look, lean, turn." as she would do it. haha, I love kids. I'm really curious to see how much having an engine affects her bravery tho. But if nothing else, she'll have tried and can either try again later or let Othello have a turn on it. hehe.

Man, I hoped this was going to be about big people on pocket bikes :(
I need to find someplace to ride besides a local parking lot. Either that or just give the bike to my son... naaah!

OMRRA Pocketbikes
OMRRA does have a full pocketbike race program, they are in the process of rewriting some of the rules and those should be presented to the board for review and a vote by February's board meeting. Since they are an appendix of the rule book they don't actually go out to the members for a vote. The race dates have not been posted for the pocketbikes as of yet on the OMRRA site. They are still in the process of getting the dates for the offsite tracks nailed down and that should also be coming out very soon. The pocketbikes will only be participating at 4 of the 6 PIR dates this race season - or at least that is the plan so far.
Gear - I PM'd you the # of the guy who got the whole thing started with Jim Kennedy a few seasons ago and he can square you away with gear. I know the rules say motorcross is ok, however I strongly recommend a full piece suite and minimoto shoes. The motorcross boots restrict the riders ability quite a bit because they don't allow them to bend their ankles sideways as they turn which is essential on these little bikes. Regarding advice, I would have to say remember it is all just for fun - have a good time and watch her ride the wheels off that thing. Very exciting, as of right now we have had only one little girl sign up and she was only able to ride in a practice, not safe enough to race or really be on the track. I can't wait to see a little lady out there to represent :) |

Thank you SO much Kimberlie for his number. I talked with him today for about a half hour. Got a lot of great info. Thank you for your advice! I'm sure we'll be talking more. hehe
