Custom Gauge Faces
-
Was thinking about putting some custom gauge faces on the 2004 1000RR. Does anyone have experience with people like bluegauges.com? They want $130 and you ship them your gauges for installation.
Worth it?

Honestly, I don’t think its worth it. Too many things could go wrong with how delicate some guage setups are.

@Rob My biggest reasoning for having the gauges redone is the fact that the existing backplate has endured some warping due to exposure to sunlight… after awhile (and I’m sure with some help of sunlight reflecting off the concave nature of the inside of the windscreen), the backplate got hot and warped up. Now the tach needle sticks when it passes by 5k rpm and drags on the warped backplate.
I can glue the backplate back down, but it’s obviously melted a bit and looks like crap.

Theres a legit reason to open it up. Thought you were just gonna open a perfectly good one. Had to help someone fix their car’s gauge cluster after the “expert” he sent it to effed it up. Bent some of the shafts on the stepper motors trying to pry off the needles the wrong way. One reason I don’t recommend doing that just for the sake of change.

Here is the instrument cluster after getting it back from bluegauges.com :
