<![CDATA[Remembering Derek -]]>For those of you from way-back SBWS - surely you remember Derek aka DDNutz. It is with great sadness that I share the news of his passing on 12/15/2017. Derek was always a guy that had a keen eye to stir the pot at the right time, but also knew how to keep the peace and add some sanity into any situation that started going sideways. No matter who you were, if you were in the room with DD at any given point in time, you were sure to be laughing at his wit and various antics. The guy had a great smile and attitude, and a huge heart to match.

There’s an odd sentiment that we hear from time to time - that this life/planet/time is a training ground; that our souls are sent to Earth to learn kindness and how to love. While it is heart-breaking to see many of my friends leave this existence far too early, I like to explain it by assuring myself that they’re simply fast learners … so they don’t have to stay as long as the rest of us idiots do.

Rest in Peace, Derek. You’ll surely be missed by all.
