Now - To The Cloud!

  • I went ahead and moved the SBWS servers up to Amazon Web Services. I’ve setup the whole mess to be super resilient and pretty speedy too.

Some cool features to note: The site is now on servers that span 3 geographic availability zones. If an earthquake takes out a data center, the site will stay online.

The site will scale up to meet demand - if things slow down, it should only be for a moment while AWS stacks more servers into the mix.

The site is also now using SSL - note the green “Secure” indication in your address bar. Anything you send or receive from the website is now encrypted during transit (including things like your username/password, etc.).

Anyway - hoping that bolstering the infrastructure and making the site more reliable might convince people to start using it again.

<taps mic> hello? Is this thing on? Anyone out there?

  • I now will sleep better at night knowing that in the case the big one hits, this sure will still be accessible. 😀👍

  • @ajneuman LMAO - yes, what would we do if the sportbikes site went offline? There would probably be mass hysteria! :)

  • Hey Sean:

Thanks for taking the time to update stuff and take care of the site. I know that traffic hasn’t been great, but I’ll start promoting and maybe we can get some interest going again. At least for the NW folks, right? :)

You bet man … things are evolving. We’ll see what happens!

  • Yeah here. Thinking about working on the YZF this weekend after replacing the trucks brakes.

I need to do the same to the truck. NEXT weekend however looks like a good time to ride. I need to GTFO and drop off the grid for awhile or I’ll lose my mind.

Pretty cool indeed. I really need to get my bike out on the street again. Really haven’t touched it in a year or so
